September – October 2010

So now we start to sweat the hurricane season. September is quickly approaching…

Whew, made it through September. Let’s go check out the progress and finally UNPACK the boxes now that most of the interior work is done.

October 6, 2010

Usually we are lucky to get a nonstop flight on Continental EWR – STT, but not in October. The only nonstop is on Saturdays and we can’t stay an entire week so we have to trek out to JFK to take an American Airlines flight via Miami that leaves at 5:30 AM – ugh, wake up at 3:30 am! So we get to Miami and have some breakfast when the dreaded announcement comes that it is raining cats & dogs in STT so we are going to hang tight in MIA for awhile. Not a direct hit but this trip happened to coincide with the remnants of hurricane OTTO and boy did it rain! Torrential downpours for days, mudslides all over the island, and some very full cisterns. In fact, we were thinking we were going to have to pay a water truck to fill our swimming pool but thanks to OTTO this feat was accomplished by using our cistern water. We didn’t miss the sun all that much cause we had so much inside work to do.

First meal at Andara, turkey wraps and Baked Lays from Starfish as we were two very tired pups. At least we had the mind to leave some Cruzan Coconut in the storage closet from our previous trip, goes great with Sprite Zero!

Curtis takes a “swim” in our cistern to clear a blockage.

The sun managed to make an appearance for a little while. The pool bar area is shaping up. The granite got delivered today but it was too wet to be installed. The columns now have the trellis installed overhead and no longer look like Stonehenge. We have plants too, yahoo! I am ready for a painkiller…

This is really starting to look nice, here is the pool and gazebo.

I would drink a cup of coffee here.

The pool and gazebo looking from bedroom #3. Easy entry into the pool.

You won’t be swimming alone…the pool has a salt water system to chlorinate the water which  has a much softer feel on the skin than traditional chemicals.

Comfy deep seating furniture with Sunbrella cushions makes the gazebo a fun place to chillax!

The kitchen has a 6 burner stove, refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, microwave plus all the goodies one would want. You just might be enticed into cooking on your vacation!

The great room in progress… A lift cabinet conceals a 46” LCD HDTV which lowers so as not to block the view. We will remove the plastic, we promise!

Bedroom #1 & #2 with their balconies.

This just about sums it up! Bye, bye Andara – until the next trip.
