October – November 2009

October 2009

Here we are in hurricane season and keeping our fingers crossed that another OMAR doesn’t strike and slide us down the hill! Yes we were on STJ during OMAR Oct 2008 – that was a close call.

November 2009

Bedroom #2 gets roof rafters. Josephine planted some Bouganvillia & Sea Grapes for erosion control. More steel beams go up

Randy from Reef Madness navigates the mountain goat trail down to check us out.

The largest pour of the project takes place and the main level of the house is now a reality. We have a flat usable spot there is joy is the world, or at least for Alex. Let the good times roll.

Our doors and windows were made in Nicaragua of mahogany. The interior doors are varnished and the exterior doors on the great room are finished in Cetol (marine varnish) to help withstand the UV degradation but alas they will need to be refinished in the future. The exterior doors exposed to direct sunlight are painted white to reflect the sun and withstand the UV a bit longer.

The pool deck wall which will house 2 storage rooms, a powder room, outdoor shower & fountain takes shape.

The great room begins….
